There are three different types of Insurance Adjuster you commonly come across when faced with an insurance claim.
Staff Adjuster – works directly for and under the supervision of the insurance company. Responsibilities include investigating, evaluating, and settling claims on behalf of their employer.
Independent Adjuster – is hired by the insurance company to work as their representative in the claims process. Can represent many different insurance carriers.
Public Adjuster – is hired by the policyholder to evaluate, document, and present their claim to the insurance company. Always looking out for their client, they even the playing field between the policyholder and insurance company.
